hahaha
Yeah I did – I would love to know which "small" design practice.
I was under the impression I could get a sheets and run a black marker down it.. then again I could be wrong.Last series they had another graphic designer who "invented" an "ingenious" table plan based on a football team... one of the dragons asked "what happens if there are more than 11 tables"... errr.... man he looked so stupid

Did you see last nights?
Let's hope your idea is better than the graphic designer that had 'invented' the bedsheet with a line down the middle, for those happy couples.
It's better than that isn't it?

"Like free advice from a mentor or summit."
This depends on where you are located. There is a something like that in Wales - http://www.designwales.org
there is also the innovators network in Wales - http://www.win4wales.com/
I'm sure there is similar elsewhere. May contact your regional development agency?
- Have you had experience in this Lowimpakt?Dancer
- more to the point... are you Welsh?Dancer
- I trained as an industrial designer. I'm irish but I work in the UK design policy area.lowimpakt

Wow, it costs a bit then.
Annoying you cannot have a service that will say: yes great idea, or no not worth it.

re. prototypes. It depends entirely on what product you are making but prototyping can be expensive.
You'll most likely need one if you're digging for investment. Depending on your location you could get models made or some form of rapid prototyping/SLA done.
Are you in London? maybe http://www.mas-london.co.uk/ could also help.
There is a UK wide MAS service. http://www.mas.dti.gov.uk/

I think it costs quite a bit for the patent research to see if its patnetable or not, and then it will cost more to actually patent it. I think there's a big difference between patenting an idea/theory and pateneting an actual object, so depending on whether it is object dependent, you may have to have a prototype before you even approach the pantent office.

It may be worth emailing Josimar for some advice. He has been through something similar.
