What is Your Design Setup?

I'm just interested in peoples setups for design work, in particular print design. I might be buying a new IMac and was also wondering if the 20" 2.4GHZ 2GB RAM option is a good setup for print design? I know that a Mac Pro is ideal but is not in my price range unfortunately. Any help would be appreciated.

DO NOT GET THE 20" iMac FOR PRINT DESIGN.. unless you have a good 2nd monitor for an external display. The latest 20" lcd screen is horrible. Great machine--sucky lcd monitor.
Work: PowerMac dual 1.8 G5, 2.5gb ram, 22 or 23" ACD
Home: 2.0ghz Alum iMac, 3gb ram- are you talking about the glossy screan?
'cause that thing is impossible to work onsikma - No... there's a horrible light gradient from top to bottom due to the design of the screen. Glossy is forgivable, the gradient effect is not.adev
- It's a cheap TN type LCD panel. 24" are high quality IPS panelsadev
- Surely you get the colour change on most LCD'sDancer
- I use a 24" imac and it's fine for print. really. quit whining.doesnotexist

Work - Mac Pro, 2 gigs ram, 2 - 23 inch displays. Home - G5 Power Mac, 4.5 gigs ram, 23 inch display. The 20 inch might be a little small for print work. The 24 inch would be better in my humble opinion.

A new 24" iMac is a decent machine, especially when maxed out with ram.
- agreed.capn_ron
- Thats what I have, love it so far. Bought it cheap from Apple refurbs, and maxed it out on ram myself.

i'm thinking of the 20" IMac 2.4GHz and maxing out the RAM, or at least to 2GB. I think i can only afford that.

hey aesthletics be careful with the latest imacs. We had some in our office and monitor was way too bright... and if you're doing print you really shouldn't be compromising on the monitor.
That's my two cents.... I do however love the new imacs... but when I saw the ones at work I really second guessed em.
