Just finished working on a site for a Devon-based furniture company. Would appreciate any feedback or comments...
thanks a lot.

Needs a page title.
Horrid logo.
Should start off with some imagery - quite cold and austere without any.
I dislike having to rollover to see thumbnails. Why should I have to do that?Overall, it feels far too impersonal and pretentious - not craftsmanlike at all.

rollovers on buttons a bit buggy.. could do with a nicer effect too? scale from centre feels a bit weird
the buttons could come down a pt size or two
the underscore before the words is a bit 1999
the transitions at the beginning could do with speeding up
the colours are abit clubby/aggressive. (it looks more like a club site than a furniture thing)saying that i think the site is ok (i', just starting to develop an aversion for flash for flash sake)

My first ever post!
Nice layout et al, not sure about the hidden rollover images. The website should work for the user, not the other way round.
Suggest perhaps making the background full screen, so the large background text goes right to the side of the browser window.

It's a good start, now time to put some detail work into the design and add some color. you might also consider hiding your 9-up image grid and leveraging some of the rollover images to add some color. The navigation needs work, as you have to click 3 times to see work, and 4 times if you want to get info on the work. If you can see the work in 1 or 2 clicks that would be ideal. all else looks good!

It's furniture, I would expect to see furniture pretty soon after pretty return. Having to rollover for the thumbnail pictures to show is a little pretentious.
Plus, that watermark wording in the background is soooo faint it's barely legible here on my screen.

Aye, I agree with the 'flash for flash's sake' sentiment - it's like you' ebuit this site for you - not for them.
Aside from anything, if I'm a non-computer savvy potential punter and I see an example of work I like on their site, how do I link to it, or save that image, to refer to when I'm discussing the kind of thing I want?

Don't like how I have to roll over the buttons to see what I am about to click on, seems a step too far, with this site you could do with putting up full screen high res images as backgrounds, like nice pine for example or interesting detail of some of the installations?... just seems a little empty which makes the photos and installations that are there seem less interesting than I am sure they really are.

show the thumbnails. seems broken w/o.

Firstly design wise I like the site. The only thing I would say other than the rollover thumbnails. You need some sort of breadcrumb trail, as leap to next level of navigation is a bit disorintating, there is nothing to tell you how deep you are into the site. I think you need to offer users more navigation options other than just back and the sidebar, or at lest another tag "you are in Retail Furniture" or something. That's all, oh and maybe a background image, as well as the watermarks

Overall very nice. You should absolutely have thumbnails appear in the "projects" section before you rollover them, I though the screen was blank at first and was ready to move on. Just change the rollover state to something else. They are trying to sell their work right?

First impressions is that it is missing something, unsure what though...
What I would say is get someone to go through your copy (About page). Sentence structure and punctuation is pretty poor.
Nice and fresh though

* Make thumbnails visible at once. The rollover is redundant.
* Reconsider the empty boxes that are visible in the background. To me they make the site look unfinished.
* Reconsider the background letters that swipe in from the left. I'm not keen about the effect and it seems to serve no purpose that a real title wouldn't do better.
* Speaking of title, use the <title></title> properly. It's nicer to have a usefull browsing history, than a load of anonymous '2detail'.
* Emphasize the links on each subpage more clearly. I almost overlooked the links under the photos in the About section. Make links recognisable.
* I'd consider making the site look a bit lighter, as I think it looks a bit too grave.
Keep up the good work. :)

does its job
id have the images on the menu screens visible before rollover though. or at least show them semitransparent then they become solid when you rollover.
otherwise these pages just look a little empty
