I'm working on an identity for a press that uses woodblocks. I am looking for a serif typeface. Any recommendations on modern faces? Or any type you really think may be appropriate?

    Thanks!

Hmmm... Maybe Goudy Old Style? Of course, and obvious solution that arises, pictorially, at least, is a couple of crows.

Do you have a local letterpress shop you could borrow some type from to make the identity? It seems like the perfect opportunity to use the old technology to make an id.

Goudy isn't as bad as I thought.

Crows will be in for sure:

I like modern faces like Feijoa, Leitura, Glosa. Others to try : Baskerville, Bembo, Caslon, Centaur, Mrs. Eaves, & Sabon. I have a lot to choose from here. I'll get something to work. Thanks.

    • Zapf's Palatino might work too. It's a sturdy, somewhat heavy face, but still graceful.dog_opus
