What kind of camera is that? Beautiful image quality.

A camera called Red cool name huh? :D it records onto compact flash cards and red RAID drives, so no tapes and the wicked thing is it is referred to as a digital film camera so you get film quality pictures from a wee digital camera so you don't need to expose and develop film you can edit straight away with proxi files :), so you can get 4k images and completely bypass a one light pass etc. :D good for time scales in post production but it will squeeze out the films labs :'(

OT: That kiteboarding one is sick. Aaron Hadlow at his best. Andy Gordon has stepped up his skills up so much as an editor/shooter. you can find similar ones at http://www.kitecinema.com/movies…

Chossy, can you recommend a consumer cam that can achieve similar results? Or would it be better/cheaper just to do it all in post production?
- chossy0
No poomoo consumer cams cannot do what this cam can do we have a couple of, z1 cameras that are great they do lots of groovy things like 50 frames a second etc. but if you want these results you have to pay the price, but a z1 I would recommend.

also hiya :D
- poomoo0
Haha! Hello. A z1 is still too expensive.
I would imagine it's not gonna be easy to fake this in post production either. Ack well. I'll stick to polaroids.

good stuff, very rich.

have yo got after effects?.... if so the new timing features brought out in the latest version of after effects is utterly amazing.

Haven't seen any good videos for the Red camera and this one is ace. Pricey as hell though. Can't wait for the Scarlet camera to come out which will be significantly cheaper. Nice one!

Yeah I have AE CS3. I'll take a look tonight :)
This is the tune in the video:

I tried to get into the RED booth at the NAB show this year in Vegas, but it was jam packed. Lines around the corner everyday. This clip is tits, and makes me want one.
We shoot on Panasonic HVX-200s and the stuff looks good, but the 120 overcrank looks insanely good.

first thing you notice when suing red is how noisy the footage is, second thing you notice is how light insensitive it is, third thing you notice how often you have to boot-up (and how long the boots are), fourth is is.... why is there a drop-frame counter in the viewfinder that often shows more then 0? And wait, did i just get codec errors on this very important take??

we shot this video with RED:

(even though the video turned out nice)

We have shot on red a few times now pr2 and we have experienced nothing but joy :D.

have you worked with other high end cameras such as F900, Genesis, Varicam? You would know that the light insensitivity and noise is very big issue with RED (besides other points).
- chossy0
Fuck knows mate, the only cameras I know that have been used are digi, z1 and this red camera and some film cameras as well no idea what their names were, but the film footage we have shot and red have been great, Red has given us superb results.

hey man if you love it it's great, but i just shot a feature with 2 Panavision Genesis and in comparison RED ain't got nothing. Black with no aparent noise, super sensitive to light, i mean a wonder. Of course we are talking of different price points, but i'm just not that impressed with neither the footage or the engineering. It's definitely not the last time i used RED but it's also not the camera of my choosing for most of the productions.
