how do you feel about designers that offer free vectors, and textures and stuff? Who uses them?

For the most part, I find the vectors to be too personal/recognizable to use. Textures are cool, but after a while, if you've seen one, you've seen em all.

I like to get free vectors just as something to start from, I generally change them so they don't look much like the original.

I don't use free vectors - I prefer to start from scratch. But I have let Juniors use them as a starting point.

Sure come in handy when a client wants something snazzy looking on a rush job.

    • yeah I usually use them for something tedious like skylines and such.epigraph

Most of them are shit to be honest. Anyone got any links to some good ones?

I'm not a fan of people who what them on a page, change the colour, put the club night information underneath, put it in their portfolio and call it design, it's facking sloppy is that.

I know someone who does it and people love him for it.

I do think their should be a place where designers can upload their own vectors as small and stupid as they are and give away all their rights to them for a little publicity about themselves * and linking to their work * so in essence advertising rights for their work. something like that could really work for vectors. I also think that vectors can be closely related to artists. But thats the job of the artist to be original.

    • I also don't think something like this could apply to the various things that do take alot of time and work like drawing cars or silo's. It's a case by case basis really.Iggyboo1/3
people. I think it would need to be thought about on a case by case basis.Iggyboo2/3
most people just do this on their sites...vectoreezy is kinda like you are suggesting thoughepigraph3/3
