I haven't seen a movie so bad and overrated since Buckaroo Bonzi.
whatever you do, don't see it.

So many people say the first one was shit. I had never read Hellboy before seeing the movie and I found it entertaining enough. Bubblegum nonsense but enjoyable. Loved the characterisation - that crazy nazi guy who'd trimmed all his face flaps off was pretty damn good. I am looking forward to Hellboy2 a damn site more than The Dark Knight.

I enjoyed the first one as well done fluff. The second one is actually a good movie with a chewey emotional center.

I think the problem with these things is the fans of a particular comic/character incorrectly assume the movie that's being made is being made for them. Of course its not. If the movie was only being made for them it would have an appreciative audience of less than a million worldwide (based on readership statistics from the www.pulledthisnumberrightoutofmy… The comic book serves as a first draft storyboard for a bit of populist, watered down, accessible to the lowest common denominator movie making. Movies are made by accountants.

Yeah constantine blew ass, but people who were not really avid readers of hellblazer would have liked it I recon, you see john constantine was a womanising hommo sex deviant who would fuck anything man or woman and was a total evil cunt who didn't really give much of a fuck about anyone, he drank all the time and smoked constantly. He also murdered tonnes of people (bad people) but he did it in bad ways, so I think it would have been pretty hard for some viewers to take if they stayed faithfull to the character.

The films were alright, but doesnt come near the genius that the comic was. The mix of world folk tales with H P Lovecraft in a steampunk setting made it so original. Films like 300 and Sin City just go to show it is possible to stay remarkably close to the original comic source and still create a popular and profitable film. Its a shame most comic to film adaptaions are so dumbed down.

just saw it. I liked it. the story wasn't anything over the top - the visuals were really well done. The elf ears needed to be pointier.
