President Bush signed a bill Thursday that overhauls rules about government eavesdropping and grants immunity to telecommunications companies that helped the U.S. spy on Americans in suspected terrorism cases.

Bush qoute "protect[s] the liberties of our citizens while maintaining the vital flow of intelligence."

    Complete BS.

The truth is that it has nothing to do with terrorism, it is just a giant scheme to market Viagra to you.

Why isn't anyone doing anything about it? (I realize that's a very general question to ask, but I'm about to fap and then go to sleep so I don't have any more time to shape my question)

    • such garbage. It seriously is beyond comprehension what the Bush administration had managed to get away with.designbot1/2

ismith - luckily it looks like this group is:

But the San Francisco-based online rights group also announced in a fund-raising letter on Thursday that it would also challenge the constitutionality of the bill's expanded spying powers.

"We are also preparing a new case against the government for its warrantless wiretapping, past, present and future," said EFF senior staff attorney Kevin Bankston, who said the details were being withheld to keep the element of surprise.

America has become one pathetic place to live. We become more like North Korea on a daily basis, sad but true.

you know, right after sept 11th, tons of people were willing to give their rights away for a sense of security. Thing is, you never get those rights back again. That is why it is important.

    ^ so true.

Thanks to the Bush adminstration, the government is already able to tap phone lines without any kind of warrant (used to rightfully require a court order). Now they can get all your info from your ISP as well, and if you are unrightfully spied on as a citizen you can't do a damn thing as they are immune to the law now.

check this one out...the ability for the government to enter your house, tap your phone line, take any information they want and leave without you knowing.....all without any kind of warrant, as it can be "delayed".

Section 3103a of title 18, United States Code, is amended--

    (1) by inserting `(a) IN GENERAL- ' before `In addition'; and

    (2) by adding at the end the following:

`(b) DELAY- With respect to the issuance of any warrant or court order under this section, or any other rule of law, to search for and seize any property or material that constitutes evidence of a criminal offense in violation of the laws of the United States, any notice required, or that may be required, to be given MAY BE DELAYED IF--

    `(1) the court finds reasonable cause to believe that providing immediate notification of the execution of the warrant may have an adverse result (as defined in section 2705);

`(2) the warrant prohibits the seizure of any tangible property, any wire or electronic communication (as defined in section 2510), or, except as expressly provided in chapter 121, any stored wire or electronic information, except where the court finds reasonable necessity for the seizure; and

`(3) the warrant provides for the giving of such notice within a reasonable period of its execution, which period may thereafter be extended by the court for good cause shown.'.

we cant do anything about it. This NWO has been planned for centuries. They're just waiting for technology to catch up which it has. The whole second side of the internet was the ability to track people, there searches ect.....

I guess I'm a little removed. Obviously there is something being sensationalized about FISA, and there has to be something redeeming about the entire thing. I find it hard to believe that our Senate and House of Reps are all completely "falling for this". Maybe we just don't have a good understanding of the Bill?
