Wow, so i found out my girlfriend is pregnant. We are so excited about it. Now i'm going to ask her to marry me, but i want to get a ring custom made. A design of mine with an uncut diamond and two cut diamonds. The thing is i'd like to ask her soon, and im not sure that i can afford the custom ring now. Should i get a temp ring and ask her soon, or should i wait till i get the her ring i want her to have?

well, if you do get married, you can always get her a nice one year anniversary ring and keep it simple up until that point...

because I knew my wife would have specific tastes and want to design her own ring, I just asked without, then we started generating ideas for it.

    • yeah, maybe i should show her the design firstflyingnowhere1/2
i read that as "show her the design fist"lowimpakt2/2

incidently expensive engagement rings were designed as a method of keeping a woman's honour in case the man was tempted to break off the engagement. The thinking was that the ring would cost the man so much money, that he would be too finacially attached to change his mind about marrying the woman

incidently, my aunt's name is ruby.

i don't understand the title as it relates to this thread.
you "exploded" inside of her and now she's pregnant?

congrats and stuff but if you're going to marry her BECAUSE she's pregnant - bad idea. If you were going to ask her anyway well that's different and I say Awesome! and Congratulations!

Please note that there are many other options other than diamonds.

    • it was an explosion of information, im getting married for financial reasons i already planned on being with her for lifeflyingnowhere1/4

Aye, keep your heard-earned money for the future of your family, and not for lining the pockets of some insidious marketing cabal who've spent a century plundering the dreams of young couples everywhere.

Diamonds are just carbon, common as fuck, and vastly over-marketed.

    ps, Congratulations & Good Luck!

Buy her a Wii then instead. You can both enjoy it and they have games with explosions. Good luck.
