It looks like it would be quite easy to recreate the site in HTML and add all the SEO as mentioned, whether your client will go for it, is another question.

Ahh resize!
Ok... I reckon all that flash is completely superfluous. However, if you're not rebuilding it, I would add in a duplicate nav in the footer, and make all the copy html (using h1, h1, p etc).

I guess 2 proposals it is.
1. Use current Nav but have a secondary nav in the footer, plus bread crumb and site map. all content in HTML
2. rebuild site completely in HTML
I have no idea why they built it in Flash in the first place.
*sidenote* browser resize will be removed

I actually think route two will be quicker for you.
I hate tinkering in other peoples flash...

Do they have a google business listing?

option 2 would be the way to go. Although you could add some flash headers for animation/text effects. I might not even tell the client which bits are which (ie html/flash etc) most often they don't know how to tell the difference if it all hangs together in the same way or at least in the way they imagined it would.

Dancer, you can use this approach:
Do the index html with all the content, nav etc etc, structured as a proper hml (after all xhtml is xml)then on the top of the page flash embedded via swf object. That flash will read the html file in which is emebedded (or you can pass it to it via a varible, your choice)
then, you'll have to write a robust parser to parse all what you need.
Then, once you have all the data inside flash.. is pretty simple.the big plus is: totally semantical indexable html content
with a flash interface.Drop me a line if you need more info on this.

Thanks Fariska, I have have absolutely no idea what you are talking about... hehe. you lost me at:
"That flash will read the html file in which is emebedded (or you can pass it to it via a varible, your choice)
then, you'll have to write a robust parser to parse all what you need.
Then, once you have all the data inside flash.. is pretty simple."The budget is not massive on this one – learning new technologies/techniques is out the window. So I may go with the suggestions I have mentioned above. I am not big into flash, I know how to edit files and basic animation but that's it.
However, if you do have a link to an example or tut for what you are talking about I will look into it – I like learning but sometime the budget constraints restrict me.

id agree with moth that it might take as long to build a new flash site and learn the technologies as it would to create a html version.you could put in pockets of flash anim etc as you know how to do that.
im sure they'll bump up the budget if you explain to them how much a well built site will help them in search engine results etc.
- that is their reason for getting an HTML site in the first placeDancer

Some flash haters insist on calling Flash sites "web multimedia presentations" rather than proper websites.
This one's a single html page, no way this site is getting good SEO without splitting it into separate html documents.
Also, while I insist Flash is irreplaceable in many cases, this isn't one of them. It could be a good exercise in jQuery animation techniques.Tell the client going html will add deep-linking capability to the site.

deep linking with swfObject replacing yr html version. but if you dont have the content in a db it would be a pain in the arse
- Jnr_Madison0
I agree, putting all the content into a single page (then overwriting with flash) is a good work around but will never be as appealing to google as a multi page site.

Yeah people love messing about with flash navigation and watching loads of loading screens
oh wait they don't
just do it HTML if its important enough to have indexed content, if its just a movie or product promo site then flash
