here's a brief description of Sasha cohens characters as i see them.
AliG- he was making fun of a sub-culture.
Borat- He was making fun of immigrants while at the same time poking fun at society for its ignorance of other peoples esp when Borat came to America.
Bruno- I don't think he's making fun of gay people, he's just trying to make people uncomfortable and show how backwards society is by not embracing homosexuality?- omg you just blew my minduberdesigner
- hahahaha, me too. what an analysis!twokids
- exactly, blew my mind too, what's his point? he's self deprecating in the first two which is funny._niko

morilla nailed it.
It's not about being a "bad version of a gay guy," it's about being any form of it and taking it too far with people who even being in the same state as a gay guy is too far for them.

And, another thing, I may have said it already - but nobody is afraid of foreigners. Bruno on the other hand has that dynamic going for it, and I'm expecting it to be filled with far more vitriol than Borat.

perhaps.
so we're back to making fun of rednecks.
these are the same people that believe that Adam walked with the dinosaurs so making fun of them isn't a stretch.

usually when you see a gay guy portrayed on a comedy, you find it funny because of how HE talks or moves, they make fun of the stereotype. I think here you get the complete opposite, by laughing at the average person's reactions regarding gay culture.

if you want the best sasha cohen, get his Ali G DVDs from the tv show. All great. You can see Ali G, Borat and Bruno at their best. Movies are ok, show is great.
