You're right, the water here doesn't compare to that in Scotland (my Gran lives in the shadow of the Campsies, and the water is lovely) or Northumberland, but It's eminently doable if you get a filter.

Besides, buying bottled water in a first world country is one of the most asinine, ignorant things to do these days.

    • Oh. You said 'wont'. My bad.detritus1/3
Sorry, I just got woken up by some feckless bitch upstairs dancing and singing to shitty teeny-bopper punk crap..detritus2/3
      hmm.
      feckless = teenyPunk?

I've never drank bottled water simply because its supposed to taste good, be better for you or whatever they try and sell you. Its just a plain pain in the ass to have yet another thing to carry around with you everywhere when you're out in a city and have a long way to travel back. The last thing I want is 3 bottles of water in my bag to last the day.

The water in Ottawa is fine. I use tap. Half of my family is into bottled water, and they weren't like this before, which leads me to believe that they started listening to all the new stories and other people. Toronto, on the other hand, is a place where many people do not drink from the tap. Filter is prevalent. I also hate carrying all that stuff around.

In most countries today, tap water contains fluoride. It is supposed to be good for your teeth, but it isn't.
It also kills the "good bacteria" that live in your digestive tract, being one of the big factors behind the rise of bowel cancer in 20th century.

    • Actually no, i did a campaign for tapwater here in Belgium and i had all the reports from the inspections.tank021/6
I don't think it's as bad as people say, nor is it as good as people say.Jaline2/6
An extreme position to be bound to there, Jaline. Watch out - you may have just poked a hornet's nest.detritus3/6
Well, you never know who to believe. Personally, I think it's a complete waste of money to buy bottled water.Jaline4/6
I should go out there and watch someone bottle water for a few years...Jaline5/6
what did the reports say Tank?rafalski6/6

just the taste alone should warn you -- i mean if you tasted Poland Spring you would know that shit i coming from the tap (and not the cleanest at that)

    • Poland Spring can't be as bad a tap water in Poland, can it? US Govt warns you not to drink it even if locals say it's okrafalski

we drink either tap water (denver water is rated one of the best in the country) or i fill nalgene bottles full of the filtered water from the fridge.

people who buy bottled water are morons

    • I have a filter on my tap water just cause its cheaper, but yesterday I was at the beach and I bought bottled water cause I was not near my house.Meeklo1/3
cause I was not near my house and I was thirsty.Meeklo2/3

I was just in Brussells and restaurants won't give you tap water, you have to buy bottles. Fucking retarded.

Beijing and India have been the only places I really drink bottled water... but that was more not to die.

    • +1 for india. another would be places in mexico where my body isn't used tothe bacteria there.jaylarson

Dasani water contains salt (it's right on the label), which actually makes you thirstier

    • sodium keeps you hydrated. During the summer and outdoor activities I will actually take tbsp's of salt daily with water.Point51/4
      Care to elaborate?
I thought that shit was supposedly totally filtered?
      detritus2/4
Aye, sodium != salt. Besides, the Dasani site says it's got 0g of the stuff!detritus3/4
Well, geez, if you guys wanna use FACTS and stuff....i'll shut up nowlocustsloth4/4

    Brita filter ftw.
Using that since 4 years (and gladly introduced that to my family so they now use less bottled water)
