Virgin Media has sent about 800 letters to customers warning them that they should not be downloading illegal music files via file-sharing sites.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/techn…

The BPI wants all UK ISPs to sign up to a so-called three strikes policy - where users of file sharing networks get two warnings and are then disconnected if they are sharing copyright files.

I know, 800 is nothing really. But the implications are disturbing.

guess people will just have to connect to their neighbors wireless network when downloading any torrents.

    Exactly Stugoo,

I can give you a couple of legal ways I have used torrent sites.

    A) downloading obscure electronic music sets that you could not find anywhere else and that the dj's are not charging for in the first place.

    B) Finding old movies/shows that you cannot get anywhere else. Especially old sci-fi stuff.

    C) Downloading games to check them out since no demo was avaialable...if I like it, I go buy the game, otherwise I uninstall it. (guess this one isn't technically 'leagal')

It would be funny if I got one, that would mean I'd be one of 800 of the best illegal downloaders in the UK, that's something to tell the kids!!

fuck virgin media, when they bought NTL they sent my a bailiff collection letter for about 80£ saying they had tried to get in contact with me several times at my university house from over a year ago.

Turned out I owed them fuck all after about 5 phone calls they decided it was a problem at their end because they "have two databases and a lot of problems". BULLSHIT sending out collection letters because your IT dept are incompetent cunts.

    • wow, what nightmare. Here in the U.S. most people use Comcast, and they suck! I've had a handful of calls like yours.designbot
