Any of you guys working in SLC? I'm about to move up there and I want to hear what it's like from people who are not my wife.

^ SLC is actually a really good spot for music. Though the venues suck for the most part, and not all touring bands stop through there, there is actually a good little music community there.
I grew up there, went to college there and just returned last night from spending a weekend visiting there.
Just sorta depends on what you're into, I mean there is a reason I left, but I also love visiting.

I loved SLC when I visited. Very clean and well laid out. The religious thing weirded me out but the women there were incredible.
- Very true about the girls. must be all that clean living, makes for some good genes.threadpost

even if you you're extremely liberal and not religious but like to ski and bike, SLC is pretty hard to beat. I love it hear and I party a lot. The liquor laws aren't really any worse than a lot states like MN and even CO

the art and music scene is very vibrant. head to head, I would say the level of talent there is spot on with any city in the world. Some of my best friends (sri whipple, jason wheatley, steve larson, trent call, jason jones) are recognized as some of the most important contemporary painters in the world.
Music too, some killer bands.
The mormons are a bit weird, but the snowboarding, biking, climbing, deserts etc are the best in the world. no question. No other state has the diversity in geography that utah has.
If it weren't for the shiite pay and weirdo mormon culture, I would have never left.- truthwordsinyourmouth
- that's definitely a plus. i didn't expect the arts scene to be that great
