What do you think of this, as a method for design? Is it better to produce as many possibilities as you can, or focus on finding the right implementation of a single concept?

It's "a way", finding ways to make mistakes as fast as possible.

    Less work, better product. Always.

Unless you can't afford to do so.

Also, everyone always likes to throw in the "decoy" piece to make sure the client chooses one of your two favorites.

in the brainstorming process among creatives, it makes sense to create lots of possibilities, but the old saying of "quality over quantity" still rings true...

Perhaps this real life example will help you come to a conclusion regarding the conundrum you have presented. It was the third Friday of last August and it was decision making time for my AUG calls. I was holding on to 100 call contracts of one unnamed stock and was up about 23%. I also owned some shares of said XYZ stock. Now, I could've exercised those AUG options and sold the shares to market for a nice little premium. But I didn't. I held out for a few more hours and sold off the contracts for an even larger profit.

The moral is: don't get too caught up on quantity. Quality will prove to be much more valuable because you'll make more money that way.

    I hope I've been helpful.

    Single implementation development.
Unless there's a particularly good reason to be torn between multiple concepts.
