I'm done with design. Anyone heard of someone taking classes (3 weeks to 9 months) and becoming a Pharmacy Technician, Medical Assistant, Medical Billing, etc...?

yes I've heard of it. if you are really interested in getting into the medical world, why not get a 4yr degree in nursing or such?

your post reminds of all the commercials you see that list 50 mundane jobs and tell you you could be a 'qualified professional' within weeks!

    • i guess graphic designer is always listed there toodoesnotexist

Depending on your scruples, there are enormously profitable black market related opportunities peripheral to these fields.

If interested I can send you a brochure.
Not from me, but from this guy I know. An acquaintance, really. I've only met him once. Named Bart. Barty Barlequino. Yeah.

I have thought of this as well, but to become a doctor. Boston University has a program specifically for people who are switching careers.

I did some career tests and it seems the right fit for me is a career where I take orders and perform regular tasks while helping people hence design is not right for me. The best careers for me is something in the health field.

Most MDs I know work long hours for their money. They make a lot, but they're always on call.

    • In Canada I don't think they make as much. Depends though.Jaline1/5
Indeed does. Are they state employed? Also, many here in the states spend their time battling insurance companies.hedge2/5
Really depends on area of practice whether you have a tough call schedule or not.....TheBlueOne3/5

I agree with Greedo. I think that thread shouldn't be in a place like qbn.com maybe you should ask you family or your pet for advice!

Become a nurse. In all seriousness. They make a good living, the job is transferable (Wanna work in Hawaii?, just go). My mom, my aunt, 2 of my roomates from college and my cousin are all nurses. They all do great. My other cousin sells pacemakers in Miami and pretty much has a license to print money. Medical fields are decent if you're someone who has skills (a billing lackey is not skilled IMHO).

    • That's true. I have a lot of family members who are nurses as well and they do make some money. They are needed.Jaline

You have to drive a Mercedes if you do become an MD. Seriously, it's like an unspoken rule of medicine around here.
