Do wedding photography before the ceremony - when the ceremony is over, you just hit the reception, and you're done. Seemed to keep stress away and move things more smoothly.
We had a nice, afternoon outdoor wedding (2 years ago tomorrow) - with a simple reception. No dinner or dancing, though we had musicians playing throughout the reception. We served hors devours, fruit tarts, and of course wedding cake (but I hate cake, so the tarts were more for me -- though I didn't get one that day. I was held up talking to everyone, and by the time I finally went through the line, they were gone).
After the reception, friends and selected family were asked to come back to our house, where we had a BBQ, keg, and cocktails waiting. Wonderful day.

Delegate. You are the second most important person that day so most people will do what you ask. Don't think you have to do do everything yourself.

Make time for the two of you to have fun at the reception. You will be so busy running around thanking people, catching up with them, getting pulled this way and that for pictures and "wedding choreography" that it's over before you know it.
Also, it is cool to mix up the order of events at the reception, to keep people guessing/interested.
Congrats!

Get some beer koozies made like I saw someone using this weekend that said:
"I don't need to read the Internet, my wife knows EVERYTHING."

don't go overboard with the arrangements, etc... you'll only stress yourselves out and spend too much money.

2 tequila shots and 2 mints, right before you have to do the deed. Did the trick for me and the groomsmen.

And make sure you have someone to get you drinks...at all times!!! Otherwise, you'll be so busy speaking to people you'll never get to partaay at your own party! And save some time to eat your entire delicious dinner. I only had time to eat a quarter of my dinner, which sucked because it was tasty.

If you keep in mind and put into practice the idea that marriage is 100/100 rather than 50/50, you'll be just fine. In other words, the best marriages are all about living selflessly. If you don't love your spouse enough to live that way – or at least work toward living that way – then the marriage is doomed.

I think it was Paul Newman who said that when it comes to sex, it takes a real man to please one woman for an entire lifetime. It requires much more creativity, commitment and strength than playing the field.
