seems like if you got rid of one of the arms it would be easier to sit on and less symetrical.

I think you should copyright your designs, then put out a small run book and website similar to the cosmic motors guy. If its any good it will get attention.
Thats probably what I would do.

1. You need to make a prototype - there are many so called furniture via 3D and that is not industrial design, thats just 3D illustration.
2. You are not going to understanding the ergonomics and physics.
3. Understand your materials. If someone asks you about it, you have to know what are going to make it with. Hence going back to making a prototype so you know which material works.
4. Start with a proper approach to industrial design process - sketch (your 3D model), scale model, paper mock up, alternative material mock up, material mock up, then prototype.

2b. You are not going to understand the ergonomics and physic if you do not make a prototype. What is the average and minimal surface for sitting? Any surface and interaction area needs to be measured and thought out.

5. Understand manufacturing process. How will this chair be made? If a particular material, how will that material be used and what manner to produce that shape? What kind of process for shaping and molding?
