USPS workers have the worst customer service skills. They must not like what they do or don't have any motivation to please the customer. Makes me wonder if government controlled healthcare is good? I guess the less goverment controlled businesses the better.

USPS is actually the best service (after Canada Post) for Canadians. UPS and DHL are far worse.

usps + dhl are great
iphone from US to belgium in 2days.

I've had nothing but the most awful experiences with DHL here in Minnesota. Rude, incompetent and so inexperienced it's just a joke of a service...

I used to run a small mail-order company. I've had good and bad USPS service. In the rich small town where my office is located the customer service is fucking stellar. I used to walk in with two or three giant bins filled with packages to ship and the guy would come from behind the counter to help me, suggest ways I could save money..awesome.
One time I went to the USPS office in the next city over, bigger, poorer, etc. and the woman behind the counter did nothing but curse me and insult for daring to bring in 30 packages to mail. I told her to shut up and do her fucking job, then got into a fight with her supervisor...fun all around..
Moral, go to the post office in the small rich town.
- That said, I think the USPS does a great job overall...TheBlueOne
- Agree. I go a town over to send things with USPS.ismith

While living in the US I was always treated nice by the folks at the USPS. Here in Mexico I use DHL and they're nice too.

Well I've had some bad experiences in Texas, when I lived in Boston they were actually pleasant and fast!

@redant - I tend to agree with you. Institutions like the USPS and the DMV exemplify how private industry is far more reliable. These people feel that they have no competition so there is no pressure on them to retain customers or even consider giving good service.
Where else would you continue to shop where you know that the service is poor, you will be waiting in line for 45 minutes and have a 50/50 chance of leaving with the desired result?

Always had good service at both the DMV and the Post Office.

Private industry is more reliable? I'd take the USPS and Postal service any day over my cel phone or cable company...

cable and cell companies generally have you in a contract, so they may not care so much since they know you arent going any place. In most places, you only have 1 cable provider anyway, so it is really that much different than the days of regulation.
I just think if there were companies like the UPS store, or Fedex that could handle your DMV needs, it would be so much easier. They fight to become more efficient and compete for your dollars. imagine saying, "i am gonna renew my license, be back in 20 minutes." Nowadays, it is like , "I need monday off so i can renew my license."

USPS is in a weird area between gov't and private business. they are technically a gov't agency, they get tax dollars and are tax exempt, but they also have powers of private business and can do lots of things other gov't agencies can't do, like make their own rules! they're not supposed to turn a profit, yet they rake in about a billion dollars a year on top of their operating costs, and still insist upon raising postage rates in an effort to continually make my stamps one cent from useful.
- buy forever stamps, i have like, 6 books of those and if the price goes up it doesnt matter.ornj
