Was doing some research and came across a lot of articles about the internet's freedom dying in 2012. Anyone think there is any truth to this?
and if this has been posted before, then apologies, ignore me.

Not sure what to think about this yet. I do think the major ISP's like Comcast, Quest, and others cracking down on Bittorrent and purposely limiting it's bandwidth is the first step in this direction though.
Maybe the future Warez sites will actually be hijacked only to be a platform for free speech?

will never happen. there are enough countries in the EU with laws in place to prevent this sort of thing from happening, owners of the "tubes" have to lease their lines to third parties. maybe in specific areas something like this could be attempted, but all it takes is one provider without restrictions to grab the millions upon millions of customers who would never go for that bullshit

it could happen in a localized way and the millions of people who want internets don't know the difference anyway. meanwhile i'm sure the entire internet will be available in some way, libraries, schools etc would probably resist having information controlled by private companies
