I'm in the market for a new canister, HEPA filter vac. Any recommendations?

- if your trying to get dried gizz out the carpet then it might not workcitizen_h
- I own a Dyson and love it. It works very well.kahn
- Aye, jizz extraction is a big thing for me - from carpets, curtains, dog hair, children's eyes - that sort of thing.detritus

Dyson is expensive but great. Think of a vacuum purchase almost like a mattress. You'll have it longer than you'll have your car. It's worth the investment.

I vacuumed and then went out to get a new vacuum. I ended up buying a Dyson. When I got home I tried it and it picked up so much dirt that it looked like I hadn't vacuumed beforehand. It really showed me that my old vacuum that I thought was working was never really doing its job at all.

Electrolux Oxygen EL6988D gets the highest ratings in Consumer Reports for canister vaccuums. The dysons are generally in the middle of the pack. I wouldn't recommend them as the others (electrolux and kenmores) are rated significantly better (and several hundred dollars less).

^agreed: i would look into consumer reports - they are mostly unbiased - and many of the "best buys" aren't the most expensive models.
