scriptographer can use the same commands as PostScript (move to, line to etc.)..
But what you want is a script that takes a shape, cuts it into pieces, ads a line on a 90degree angle, converts that line into a text-base, group all the text-bases together, so you can have running text, insert text.. it'll be hell to do that with just PostScript

Depending on how complex you want it, you may want to look into the PostScript language as a way to do this.
Simon Heys has a good primer on using this:

press the 'do work for me' filter quick-key.

hmm.. I guess I could.. although I'd have to rewrite a bit of the program to take in shapes (instead of creating them between two points).. and since I'm pretty busy at the moment.. you might be quicker off doing it manually.

Someone in this thread might be able to help, by the looks.

Can't you just use your type on path tool, then go to Type, Type on Path - Then click gravity or skew and fuss with it that way?
I guess I'm a tad confused with the gonad illustration above.

you could try making a custom pattern brush, with perpendicular lines
then apply, expand, transform each 500%, and apply use each line as text path
at least you will have certain level of consistency which is hard to achieve manually

OH.... wait....mai baid
you'll probably need to make whatever type you are using a symbol and use it like a border.

double click on the "type on path" tool and hit FLIP.

I figured I might as well draw something interesting.. he he he
Ya I guess manual is the way to go.

you may have to just do it "manually"

that sounds pretty dang easy to me.... and how i would do it if i were radiating text from a swollen gonad.
