I am trying to change my object colors in illy cs3 and the "circle" will not change color.
has anyone had this happen before? i tried to run an update but it keeps saying its failed.
any suggestions i would appreciate. I am going to hit up google next

I don't understand what "circle" you are referring to?
- Click object then click on new color.

say for example i have a red circle and i want to make it black. when i click on the black swatch or use the color sliders nothing happens.

is that object in grayscale?

i just re installed illustrator that seem to fix the problem

could have a compound path or mask on the object?

i doubt you had to reinstall

probably a layer appearance is set

i tried a restart, cleared illustrator preferences, there was no clipping path, no compound path, no gradients it was just a circle. Trust me i re installed illustrator.

what version of cs3 did you get? the warez one?

could you just draw another circle and delete that one?

It’s all about the Appearance palette. I think you have to tick “New Art Has Basic Appearance”.

were you actually using illustrator or did one of your coworkers take a screenshot of illustrator with this circle file open and set it as your desktop background?
