wow. I am from this country but I am def. not that stupid. I think San Francisco is its own refuge away from a lot of the stupidity I just saw.

Having spent a good deal of time in both the UK and the US, I can categorically say that there is exactly the same proportion of red-necks (largest category), damaged/angry/violent people, elitist dangerously wealthy people, and people in the middle who are either struggling to get somewhere or to hold on to what they've got.
There is the same amount of genuine random kindness under the surface, and about the same nonchalant dismissive ignorance of strangers which everybody needs to avoid being entangled with categories 1 thru 3. Obviously there are differences in what those most public stupid people do. America stupid people like guns and hate foreigners. British stupid people like trash culture, beer and violence. Idiots are idiots everywhere in the world all you can do is avoid them where and whenever you can and get on with your life.

    • Can you come to Canada and do an analysis, please. Thanks :)Jaline

    haha :).
Ive been to Canada, and I liked it. I stayed in Halifax, NS for a few days, had some great pizza, saw some breakdancing, then got the bus (!!!!!) through to Montreal, via Riv Du Loup etc..through the most utterly wild and fantastic region of the world I had ever been in at that time, which took about 18hrs.
Then in Montreal we stayed with 2 quebeceurs who, despite being broke and not ever having met us, welcomed us like family and shared everything with us. My friend had been promised about 5 djing slots at clubs across the city, but the 'promoter' was an utter ass-hat and none of them came through, so we too were broke. I liked the feeling of canada and found them some of the most laid back people i'd ever met -a little obsessed with feeling that they werent quite good enough though - one thing that stuck in my mind is watching the sports report on what looked like a national station - "...and the results of the [insert sport] championships from Stockholm - we didnt come last !"...the reporters and everyone in the studio seemed genuinely shocked and pleased that the country hadn't 'come last' in this particular sport. Then we watched Coronation Street. I particularly like the direction that graf had taken in Canada, and I still doodle some of the forms that really stuck with me.
My wife and I are going to be in Toronto for a 4hr layover next month, I'd like to wangle it so we could get a day there, and show her that she has been wildly misinformed by most of america what Canada is like. You really get the impression it has 95% of it's history still ahead of it.
