Funny you should mention it, I sent them a wee message last night on their contact form (http://www.berocca.co.uk/contac……
"I was just wondering about your new TV advert...
Whose idea was it to rip off OK Go's video?
My wife and I have hypothesized that it must be one of the following scenarios:
1. The daughter, no, niece of Berocca's CEO showed her uncle the OK Go video and he thought to himself "I have an idea of how we can appeal to a trendy market"
2. There was an original idea that was being bicycle couriered across town when alas the courier was mown down by a rogue LaRoche lorry. Hence having to find a dirty solution.
3. You use the same agency that OK Go used and they ripped you off thinking that you'd never notice.
Please help my wife and I resolve this, there's £20 riding on it!!"

"A source close to the band claims: "There was extensive negotiation to use Ok Go (by the JWT advertising agency on behalf of Berocca's manufacturer Bayer] but this didn't bear fruit." The source says JWT had no authorisation to reproduce the choreography. JWT and Bayer have, thus far, ignored all requests for a statement."

Advertisers don't try anymore, there used to be some very very good ads out there with great ideas and wonderful execution, now there is so much detritus clogging up the advertising world that good ads. and great ideas go unrecognised. It seems to me as I watch things from my small island that advertisers have completely run out of ideas.

Is this sort of thing something that JWT pride themselves on?
Do they care?
Is it part of the plan... "Hmmm, they won't give us permission to use their stuff, how 'bout we boost it and get extra publicity from the news.." ??
If it is part of the plan, this has to be one of the most thinly disguised attempts to get "extra coverage for free" ever, seems a very clumsy execution.

I looked at the we thought you wouldn't notice website using my banananet connection and I noticed a rip from Dougal Wilson, in my opinion it was only a matter of time before he was found out to be a hack, constantly riding off Gondry's wave as a pale and insignificant immitation.
