Anyone using it and has it changed your life forever? I can't see the (greater) point (in it) - am I missing something (. . . and don't say friends)

I love twitter.
It's simple.
It lets me connect with interesting people, follow what they are doing - if you follow a particular designer that you admire, you'll hear latest news/links etc through them.
It updates my facebook status, so I still have a presence on fb, though I rarely use it.
I really like it. Use it everyday.

I don't really admire a particular designer. I'm following a few bods, but to be honest it's a bit banal and trivial what they're saying I not sure why I'm bothering.

Depends who you follow!
Some peoples' experience of twitter is receiving updates like:
'popped into train station to buy a ticket'
'eating a hamburger'
'just pooed myself'
etc
zzzz

I think that it's the ultimate Big Brother. it's like being monitored all the time but voluntarely.
it's amusing and useful in some way and very simple.
I created an account, typed in "I'm working" and never updated it since then.

our pr dept hosted a blogger party for Juno a few months back... i was there for the free booze... at one point someone raised there hand and shouted hands up who twitters and everybody cheered.
not me though.
i despaired.
- Good thing there was free booze though. Helps to numb the pain...ian

twitter
is it the ultimate bragging application? or is it the ultimate calendar of the lame stuff you do? or is it a tool to communicate something specific, to a certain audience, for a certain effect?
just the same, I think it's a nice tool when the subject matter does not require a substantial blog entry. For instance, if you have your own blog, just saw a great movie, but don't have time to write your piddley review, then twitter a few sentences?
However I completely agree with moronic messages most people leave for others to read... so if you use twitter, find it's potential, because if this does end up being the ultimate bragging application which feels like all the lame stuff everyone ELSE does, then... I really don't know what the tweet the future looks like for twitter.

..yeah, some people brag, some people post stupid stuff - but find the right people and it does have a usefulness.
As you can update by text and numerous other methods, it's handy for putting information (by cleverly using tags) somewhere else..
