so I am trying to figure out the dpi and the halftone line screen I would need to use to output the best looking BITMAP for a silkscreen tshirt design. (the design has some blur to it, which is why i need to convert it over to a halftone bitmap)
what is the standard? anyone?

Simply blow up the bitmap font in illustrator, it will apeear blurred, then trace the blurred fonts with vector squares and rectangles to achieve the bitmap look.

yeah... my memory keeps telling me like 60 - 80 or someting. But I've only done a bitmap on a poster (which is a higher LPI). Never for a fabric....

depends how halftone-ish you want it to look. print out some tests. i wouldn't go over 100.. dots too small.

horton - should I bitmap it at actual size then? at 300 dpi and such?
- are you going for an exaggerated halftone pattern effect, or accurate and smooth blends?horton
- if you want smooth photo like results i would suggest just submitting your art to printer as a psd.horton
- I'm going for a smoother look, but I know it won't be perfect so a little bitmap junk is fine.thompson
- submitting your art as a PSD with spot color channels may be the best way to go. let your printer assign dot freq shape and angle.horton
- and angle.. lots use screenprinters separation software to achieve best results.horton
- awesome... thanksthompson
