looking for a new(used) car, thinking of a 2006 Mazda3.
Anyone have one? would you recommend it?
- 7point340
i would recommend exactly 0 mazdas
though i just thoroughly dislike the brand (have had a 626 and have never heard good stories about them from other people i know that have driven them)

take subaru impreza, you will get a passenger car with 4x4
- and shite gas mileageflashbender
- the 08s build quality is pretty crappy.alkanenine
- yeah, you are from US, us subarus is not the same as models made in Japanbezul555
- i thought that they pretty much are. the imprezas and foresters are made in japan factoriesalkanenine
- what sucks about the new subarus is the materials they use...alkanenine
- complete shit. same plastics trays from prisons are made out ofalkanenine

The 3 is highly rated by Consumer Reports for a reason.

Eeeeeewwww dinae buy this car. You have lots of money to spend if you can get an 06 mazda 3 so be wise don't buy it. Get a lexus Is or a tricked out accord.

A good friend had a Mazda and had a horrible experience with it. Total lemon. So bad in fact that he complained so hard, that he was refunded all of his money and Mazda voluntarily ended his lease. That's all I got

my friend has a mazdaspeed3 and loves it.

I looked at them once and the Mazda dealership was very annoying. Weasely tactics. 'What do I have to do to put you in a new car today' attitude. I couldn't get a straight price and disliked their fees when I finally got to them. I don't want to pay an additional advertising fee for instance. Just include it in the price of the car if needed. I preferred the straight talk I got from the local Honda dealers. Buying used is probably better.

Get and Oldsmobile, you won't regret it.

GTI mkV
- Or the GLI if you need the back doors.Mimio
- gti = bad ever since they stopped making them in Germany.flashbender
- The MKV GTi is made in Germany. Rabbits are not however.Seanbot
- well, maybe they won't be complete shit then.flashbender
- This would be good as long as you don't need your electrical to work.cursiveshotgun
- I have one and love itroyer
- Definitely electrical problems on the first few new model years.Mimio
- and the last few ... my 98 had about a million electrical problemsflashbender

Stay away from Volkswagen and Audi used. Junk.
- Oh really? I beg to differ. How many 15 year old Mazda's do you see on the road?2cents
- that's probably because people love their's and are willing to drop cash in to fixing them.jaylarson
- You're full of excuses today.2cents
- That's my point. It's somewhat problematic but it drives nice. Worth maintaining.Mimio

Couldn't agree less with you. Sure, used Jettas are absolute shit since MKIV was the 16-year old girl's dream car, but everything else is quality.
Used Audis can be a mixed bag (namely A4's) but I've ridden in countless A6's and A4 Avants that have been flawless .
That said, fuck Mini. Get a MKV Gti or Mazda 3 five door. I own a GTI and a good friend of mine has the Mazda - both excellent.
- @jaylarsonSeanbot
- even with our salty roads eh?jaylarson
- I'll mix your bagcursiveshotgun

Get an 2006 A3.
- Don't think the A3 will cut it, with two small kids, get A4 estate or avants as they call emdesignerror
- I agree, but it is bigger than a Mazda 3.2cents
- A3's are not as well rated as the 3 (just barely) and costs $8k morejaylarson
- Do you work for Mazda?2cents
- nope, i just love mine. zoom zoom.jaylarson

I have to agree with the anti-used VW sentiment.
VWs are great if you buy one new and take care of it, but I bought one 2 years old (98 VR6 GTi) and it sucked. When it worked it was a blast, but all sorts of shit went wrong with that car. And from talking to other people that had a3 gtis, it was pretty common for all hell to break loose at 3 years if they were not taken care of when they were new.

My sister just bought one a couple months ago, and I'm about to buy one soon. it's a great car.

in snow they suck though. even with digital stability control (and maybe snow tires) they are just too light. if mazda doesn't release an awd car in a couple of years, i will get a subaru. and hopefully then they'll run on regular gas and not be junky.

I owned one for 2 years. I thought it was great value for the amount you pay. Really really like that car.. but had to get a truck to live in the mountains.
