i'm having a weird issue in flash where i import a jpg onto the stage and the color is slightly washed out after import. i tried it as a png and a bmp and still the color gets washed out. does anyone know of this issue? anyone know a work around? strange...i've never noticed it before.

Maybe try not importing it? I.e. just link to the image?

i've always had this issue too..never thought too much of it. i just figured it was because of the compression.

How are you compressing your image assets? Photoshop? Fireworks?
I've noticed this issue when using the "Save for Web" function in PS, which is largely why I don't use it.

jpgs get compressed, use a png it's lossless.

    • colors still get jacked. sometimes even moreso using pnglvl_13

cuke. i've imported as png and the same wash out happens. i'm about to pull my hair out. i've even tried to open the bmp dialogue and re-import with no compression and still it washes....such a pissah.

    it's all about colormanagement.
what's the document colorprofile in Photoshop?
and did you check a proof setup in Photoshop?
did you embed the used colorprofile in the jpg file while saving for web?
    etc etc...

yeah - i'd guess you've got some color management happening. what happens when you open the image elsewhere (browser, picture viewer of some sort, etc.)? what does it look like?

looks fine in PS and preview etc. i have it as RGB/8 and do have the embed color profile: adobe rgb 1998 checked does flash import at 16 or 32? could that be the issue?

    • i've gotta run to the dentist...crap....an… insight would be greatly appreciated.linearch1/3
try something besides photoshop and see what the results arefugged2/3
or turn off color management in psfugged3/3

Crop it in Photoshop and re-export it...even if you don't really crop anything. Don't know why it works but I've had this problem before and it works. Maybe it has something to do with color settings (even tho u dbl check!)

just bump the levels up and saturate the image a bit more. that is the only real "fix" that i have found.

    • mouth is totally numb. this will have to work. thx for the responses people.linearch

I just took your image exactly as above, put it in PS, exported ('save for web') and then imported into flash, no color problem. Try using the image you posted, as if you are having some odd color profile problems shouldn't both images then look the same? Also, are you using CS3?
