"Our sites used to reach out, grab the user, shake them vigorously and scream, “Made by Fantasy Interactive!” Fi was notorious for developing everything and anything in Flash, Today in Fi, you will only find Flash in places it needs to be and fits."
this is honestly, one of the most refreshing things i have read on a major agency/firm site in a long, long time.

cool site

I agree that there is a lot going on here, but it's fairly well organized.
- er...compartmentaliz... I also detest logo boards, but business people seem to love them...skwiotsmith

Nice site and design but I agree with above, it just has too much content.

That is the biggest pile of new media twattery I have ever read, made me throw up in my mouth a little.

Looks like a Wordpress template, is it supposed to?

Looks/feels like a product site... like they're selling hi-end furniture / tech or something... but I'm not getting that 'we're an interactive design firm' vibe at all.

no wow factor any more :(

- I vaguely recall something in ALA about such BG sprites, nonetheless - why would they do it this way?detritus
- loading one image instead of thirty, actually less server load, no multiple img preloading required, easy updates..rafalski
- Hmm. I 'spose so. I hadn't considered the server request angle, just the filesize.
Thanks, R.detritus - I checked to see how they did rounded corners for careers blue bg strip, thought it was jsrafalski
- yup, apple does it like that as well..vrmbr

I kind of like it, bits of it are really nice - clients of a type will love it and that's what matters, its like the Blast Radius end of things
- kelpie0
(although a quick look tells me Blast Radius have gone right off on one)

Well it's not crashin my browser anymore which is nice.
However, I refuse to 'think Swedish.'

"Our sites used to reach out, grab the user,"....
Well that doesnt sound very good...everything you do, in whatever medium should 'reach out and grab the user'...that's the point..
It has nothing to do with whether the site is 'in flash', or drawn in piss on old man's benefit check, it needs to 'reach out and grab the user'.
Why they think that good typographical choices, a grid structure, page layout, information heirarchy, color scheme, contrast, repetition and balance do not 'reach out and grab the user', I don't know - and why this is apparantly antithetical to using the nearly endless possibilities of animation/video integration/data organisational abilities of flash eludes me.
If they wanted to say that their sites look less like a late 90's playstation game, and more like a brochure, then fine, but don't make excuses just because you can't work out how to include all of the above qualities into an interesting site.
That being said, I reallly like what they've done, but they don't have to knock flash, just cause 'they're all grown up now'. Good design principals apply whatever you use, or didn't we all agree on this 10 years ago ?

kinda boring. would be better if it was in Flash.
- Why does it have to be? Thier client work speaks for itself. No need to WOW someone with thier own site.montego
- I disagree. Yeh, their work is good. Their own site should be just as good, if not better.fyoucher1
- 100% disagree, fyoucher1.madirish
- Compare it to a professional housekeeper, whose own house is a mess. A bit over the top, but u can see the point...fyoucher1

It's really strange to see Flash go away not being replaced by anything but a few dhtml tricks from late 90's.
Where did they go wrong? I'd say, poor browser integration is the core problem..
- kelpie0
I'm glad they're not in flash now, I cannot fucking stand flash for anything like this kind of thing and can totally understand why, if they want to gravitate to another type of client, they have moved the thing to an element of their sites, rather than full things. When oh when will people get that message without getting defensive?
- the future is flash!
embrace the future duuuude.
just skip the intro >23kon - Flash is great...if you use it in the correct way, w/o abusing it. It's like bacon.fyoucher1
- flash = bacon bits.Faction18
- "bip-ity, bop-ity, AS3..."madirish
- "not liking that website?... throw a little bacon on it... now it's an entre..."PonyBoy
