http://www.apple.com/imac/ - is that final upgrade before new model comes?

This is the new model. Was released October last year (I think).
Be a year or two before another redesign.

i was all ready to buy one when they released the new design and i just couldn't get past the reflections on the screen. oh well.
the mini is too underpowered for the money. the mac pro is too expensive and more than i really need. imac is right on with power for me and price is okay but i hate the screen. i can't win.
wouldn't it be cool if you could raid to minis together?

i have a 24" glossy in a bright room and it's frankly just fine as long as the sun doesn't come through the window and hit it directly. even then it's not terrible.

I like the shiny screen.

Im hearing from some designers that they dont like the glossy screen on the new Imacs, by the way the new 3.06 version launched on apple, kicked the 2.8 24 down to 1799, and the new 3.06 is starting at 2199 instead of 2299 like before.
Some designers are saying the glossy screen is just too much glare for them. I hear some say they can see thier own reflection in the screen. To be honest.. apple was smart to do this (well smart for thier business). The iMac was meant to be marketed to the typical home user looking to move away from PC's...it really wasnt meant for us creatives go run out and buy one and forgoe shucking out the big bucks for the 17inch powerbook or the Tower Models that cost the same (2799). Putting a glossy screen on the cheaper iMacs is making some designers not want it, and forcing them to move up to buying the more expensive machines as apple truly intented on to begin with. Heck the 17 inch powerbook now being marketed as the "creative juggernaut" now.
