i'm in front of a huge window convered with a navy bluish curtain i can open in any way for light. feels like a theatre, didn't want anything bright to keep me focused on the comp

the lighting is probably more important than the wall colour? (use soft uplights bounced off the walls rather than overhead etc...)

if you are doing any type of print work or reviewing color you should really paint your office neutral gray. even wearing a red shirt while viewing a proof can affect the way you see color. when evaluating color having a neutral color environment certainly helps.

I have a cubicle wall behind my monitor. It is a decent neutral grey... doesn't seem to bother my eyes or distract me too much.
