the idea behind this is pretty awesome for those sites that don't require a database or just need an easy way to allow non-savvy customers a way to update their own site! anyone else checked this out?

i probably wouldn't use it for robust sites, but could be quite useful for smaller cheaper clients.

looks really good, wonder what they get out of it or if you can have a branded version or buy it as a package?

Hey that's pretty nice, I'd like to be able to buy that script and put it on my own server and rebrand it.
- That would be where the money could be made for them; as design firms and developers buy and rebrand it.********

I can imagine it being a bit more than just a script somehow

PS He'd try me mad with his keyboard slapping if he was in my office!
- My buddy is like that. Goes through keyboards like mad. I won't let him near my laptop...TheBlueOne

anyone know of something easy and simple like this that is more secure? (as in: you don't have to upload your site FTP info to their server?)

I've spent hours searching for something like this that could be installed on my own server ... so far, no luck. I'm not up for paying a monthly fee, I hate the downtime with services like these and then they disappear out of nowhere leaving you with pissed off clients. I ran across a few discussions with people making CushyCMS clones and then after they finish they pull the same bullshit and make it a hosted service with a monthly fee. Why do the open source communities ignore the simpler, more innovative projects like CushyCMS and Basecamp?

The idea behind it is great. We tried it out and it behaves more or less as Contribute does, only much more stripped down. Security is an issue of course, as they've got your FTP credientials etc.
Building something similar to this in PHP wouldn't be that difficult for experienced developers. All you need is to wrap editable areas in a specific tag that is recognised only by your software. The UI for the client-side would probably actually be trickier than the actual editable part...

Not exactly the same thing, but also simple:
- tried it. seems decent but not quite as easy or quick to setup.itsmitch

i have used it for a site and it's buggy. it has problems updating the content and can be really frustrating.

Similar as well:

I use this for my local sports team.
Is a bit buggy but does the job for no commercial projects.
