Why do people succeed? Because they're smart? Or lucky? How about: Neither. Richard St. John compacts more than a decade of research into an unmissable 3-minute slideshow on the real secrets of success. (Hint: Passion, persistence, and pushy mothers help.) Inspired by a chance encounter with a high school student who asked him how to become a success, St. John interviewed more than 500 successful people, then distilled what they told him into eight simple principles.

I always enjoy Ted stuff, thanks.
I'll watch it later, but frankly all the successful (financially anyway) people I've met recently all have one thing in common. They knew someone who let them in the door, despite any incompetence. So it goes.

I agree, it is a lot about who you know. I am on the job hunt and I was speaking to an old colleague and he said "I am good friends with the owner of agency X, I think they are looking, let me give him a call". So I finally got to speak to the CD and he asked how I knew X and X, he looked at my book and said "cool, call so and so who is doing the selection process, I will speak with him and tell him that you are family and have a real conversation with you"
WTF! I guess a strong book isn't enough these days.

Hitchhiker: You heard of this thing, the 8-Minute Abs?
Ted: Yeah, sure, 8-Minute Abs. Yeah, the excercise video.
Hitchhiker: Yeah, this is going to blow that right out of the water. Listen to this: 7... Minute... Abs.Richard St. John rips Napoleon Hill for his 8 secrets... read the original:

On a related note, I've also noticed the more dedicated, educated, honest, and reliable you are, the more you get fucked and loaded with all the bullshit those around you. They know you're the type who won't let the ship go down, and therefore dump it on you.

hahah way to contradict yourself:
"Why do people succeed? Because they're smart? Or lucky? How about: Neither."
"Inspired by a chance encounter with a high school student who asked him how to become a success"success is when preparation meets opportunity.
