Albert Einstein : "Coincidence is God's way of remaining anonymous".
If you could perceive everything simultaneously instead of continually using a selective browsing of reality - which our limited levels of attention oblige us to - you would be almost godlike in the sense that you would be able to be simultaneously conscious of everything that is.

ok - this is really interesting. It seems a word is missing in the western lexicon, if you rule out "coincidence".

No its another fascinating facet of the effect itself. Quite independently of anything else I quoted the Baader-Meinhoff group in the thread about Max Mosley being exposed for kinky sex games.
Now here were are discussing how the phenomenon of things recurring once they've registered in the consciousness is called The Baader-Meinhoff effect, and how the name seems to have come up frequently on QBN.
I only know The BaaderMeinhoff as the name of a political activist /terrorist group in pre-unified Germany.
That freaks me the fuck out!
- Am I alone in thinking that's weird I wonder????Spookytim
- Maybe I am just

Jesus that's so true - since I learned about Baader-Meinhof I've already seen it written twice.

The Kelpnairn Qoobstein paradox.

"How the phenomenon came to be known as "Baader-Meinhof" is uncertain. It seems likely that some individual learned of the existence of the historic German urban guerrilla group which went by that name, and then heard the name again soon afterwards. This plucky wordsmith may then have named the phenomenon after the very subject which triggered it. But it is certainly a mouthful; a shorter name might have more hope of penetrating the lexicon."

I don't think there is a specific word for it, maybe because it seems to be the effect of a number of facets of the way we perceive and process the information we take in. You'd need a head doc to be sure.

Let's just call it the kelpitus
- detritus0
I still think there was a specific word for this though. Not that I don't appreciate Kelpie's answer - but I suspect word memes derived from internet forums - they don't stand up to the intellectual purity I expect from the deep seam of pretension I need in my vocabulary.
- kelpie0
is that the reverse baader meinhoff effect?
- kelpie0
by fuck you know I think I may just have been, hahaha
- Oh, I thought it was me.Spookytim
- *slowly (but very surely) backs away from thread*detritus

That's a bit odd - weren't you joking about Baader-Meinhof just last week, Kelpie?
