Perhaps a daft question but I'm doing a site for a client who doesn't want me to steal their search engine thunder by having it appear in my folio as they want to position it as being done in house but I was wondering if I add a meta head tag to the pages with my details would that show up in the search engines in any way?

They don't mind me commenting the code particularly but just don't want visible links back to me.

    Cheers,

Not necessarily. For example google works in mysterious ways. If the site is done in flash, then it'll grab anything that has text or something in the meta tags. If the site has actual text, then it won't grab info from the meta tags. Just so you know, Google ignores meta tags pretty much.

I say, do whatever you wanna do with your details in the meta tags.

Cool, cheers. Plenty of text on the site for it to pick up. I know the search engines don't really pay any attention to meta keywords but I just didn't want my details to appear instead of a site description or something!

put your name and email address into a comment on your CSS files.

that way it is never going to cause any issues and anyone who needs to can verify it's there :)

    • I was going to do that, I guess that would be the safest bet.jamble
