that all republicans are...
- evil
- tax cheats
- corrupt corporate folk
- greedy
- etc...or, is that just what is cool? you know, any corporation is just greedy, etc. etc. - i make all my own clothes, grow my own food, listen to music you've never heard of, don't shop at any store ending in mart, etc, etc, blah blah blah.
i mean, aren't corporations responsible for a lot of your jobs? Wouldn't it sort of suck if they weren't around?
Don't get me wrong, there are evil greedy corporate business people out there. But I think some of you are way to quick to put everyone in one boat. There are a lot of honest republican business people out there. I just don't buy the whole capitalism = evil equation. To many out there evil is personified by a capitalistic republican, or so it seems to me.

replace "republicans" with "politicians" and I give you a resounding yes.
- flashbender0
republicans != corporations
- umm.....Mimio
- the vast majority are, but there are some ethical/nice corporations out there.flashbender

- noplanet01
- well then the whole premise falls apart.mrdobolina

- what was the question?mrdobolina

After Bush, what does being a republican even mean anymore?
- harlequino0
What do any political parties really mean at this point, beyond idealized talking points? Seems to be more like pools of interests to be lobbied for.

Corporations are like guns - they can be good or bad - depending on whose hands they are in.

Republican defined in a traditional sense. i.e. - smaller government, lower taxes, less governmental interference in private lives, etc.
- the gov is 40% larger right now than under clinton.mrdobolina
- gov interference in private lives, like wiretaps without warrants?mrdobolina
- you cant fight a war without taxes.mrdobolina
- at some point the piper must be paid.mrdobolina
- when did i say anything about bush?planet01
- You were tlaking about repbulicans. This is a rep. administration. So of course Bush is in question.harlequino
- how about letting the market rule itself and get rid of pesky government?dan5382
- did you not see what happened when the mortgage industry was deregulated?mrdobolina
- i'm not talking about bush, clear enough?planet01
- so you arent talking about the last ten years of republican politics then?mrdobolina
- mrdobolina0
well, you aren't going to hear a republican talk about socialized medicine, unions or anything that might actually help people, they should change the name of their party to corporatists.

dobs, the question was...
do you think that all republicans are...
- evil
- tax cheats
- corrupt corporate folk
- greedy
- etc...but, i think i already know your answer.
- exador10
i think at one point, the term republican definitely stood for some definable things...like the ones you mentioned...
however, as of today's social political climate, i believe those original lofty definitions have been replaced by:
christian identity (preferably born-again), intolerance of anything that may be 'different' (fill in various religions and or sexual preferences here), deregulation and 'market freedom' no matter how many times it's been shown to be disastrous,really...the list could go on and on and on....
basically, just list out all the Karl Rove talking points etc and you'll have a pretty good definition of the modern day republican....
- TheBlueOne0
I refuse to answer because it's a horribly phrased question. Try again.
- harlequino0
planet, that wasn't simply your question at all. You followed it with:
"or, is that just what is cool? you know, any corporation is just greedy, etc. etc. - i make all my own clothes, grow my own food, listen to music you've never heard of, don't shop at any store ending in mart, etc, etc, blah blah blah."That implies that not only do you NOT feel that way about the republican party as it currently is, but you dismiss and hold disdain for those who feel otherwise. Saying "is it just cool," dismisses real viewpoints as irrelevant or trendy. Lumping that generalization in with an overall colored 'hipster creed' generalizes people even further.
Had you simply stated the question, you would have gotten a simple response.
We clearly know YOUR answer.

- Not so, I just want to know if feelings are as extreme as they often seem on here. If it's just a trend, than whatever, if someone isn't well informed, they probably won't respond anyhow. I understand I've loaded the question a bit.We clearly know YOUR answer.
- I don't know that you do. I'm fed up with politics, but genuinely interested in why people seem to hold this ingrained despise for anything republican, just curious how well informed opinions are. The general attitude seems to be unquestioned disdain. Republicans = Capitalism = Evil
- Dr_Rand0
your question is so muddled as to be meaningless

i think all republicans are disguise the homosexual tendencies with their self righteous rhetoric- yah ALL OF THEM WANT DIRTY FUN HOLE TIME IN A AIRPORT BATHROOM
- they once got busy in the larry craig baffroommrdobolina
- threadpost0
add racist and homophobic and the answer is a resounding yes.

classicism is the best rouse the repugs ever invented. It tricked the poor folks making less than 30k/year to consistently vote against their interests
- Llyod0
90% of republicans have been fooled into thinking that they share core values of the GOP. the rest are tax cheats.
- utopian0
They also have a strong liking for little boys as well.
