I have a Seagate FreeAgent Pro external Hard Drive that is connected to a Windows XP machine. When connected via USB the drive connects but doesn't show up in the MyComputer list of Devices where normally I would be able to double-click on the drive and access my files.
What gives? why won't it show up?
Device Manager shows it's connected and everything. How do I open this drive that is connected??BIG thanks if you can help. I'm not used to this windoze crap.

My friend had the same problem. Sometimes it needs it's own power source. (Not sure if you have the same hard drive as him)

did you install your drivers that came with the disc first? sometimes that helps. +1 on the power source too.

how is it formatted? or is it...?

I think its a formatting problem.... I know it worked before when I first hooked it up on this machine about 4 months ago. Since then though I use it at home on my mac...
I'm just gonna give up....I'm not surprised I'm having an issue like this with a PC. Oh Well...
- if you formatted it for the Mac it will not work on the PC - different formatting and file tablesflashbender
