  the prince was in another guillermo del toro comic movie blade 2

  he played nomak, the main villian.

  actually pretty fucking slick for a vampire movie. the villians are pretty badass

  It's not based on any of Mignola's metamythology though is it? Some of the character designs seem very del Toro. Kind of disappointed by that.

  ^ mignola gave del toro free reign to take the characters in whatever direction he felt they should go. del toro was a huge fan of the comic so he kept some of the ideas the same but elaborated and changed some otehrs to match his own style.

  mignola was originally approached by del toro when the filming for the first one started and mignola was more than happy to let del toro add his own flair
