I prefer editors that have code highlight (always a great addition to code editors). I use BBedit, it's cheap. Used to work with Forgedit too, both are good.

I found a free one called Smultron, it's actually really good

Fariska, Open Source doesn't mean free software. There are quite a few open source applications that aren't licenced as free software and I'm sure there are millions of free apps that aren't open source. Vi is awesome once you know what you're doing, might be worth investing your time in that.
