I am thinking about buying the new 24" iMac?

Does anyone have one or heard anything about them?

    Feedback would be appreciated.

that is what i have except mine is the 2.4GHz with 4GB memory (from Crucial). it's lightning fast and has yet to crash in the 2 or 3 months since I've owned it. It owns cs3 and treats it like it's little bitch. don't anyone even mention the glossy screen bullshit because when you're sitting in front of it working you can't see any reflection or glare. now if you have a light pointing at it of course, but lets not be silly here. it's a fantastic machine. i picked mine of refurb and saved a bunch.

    • Thanks Kona:)utopian1/5

Yeah it runs pretty well. Leopard is allot more stabler than it was a few months back. The only issues I have with Adobe are then them open for days and am in and out of sleep mode. I only have 1 gig of ram right now so it's ok for speed when I get 4 in there it'll be lightning fast.

The RAM on Apple's website is insane, don't change the RAM option, to give you an idea of the ripoff:

4gb of RAM on Apple's website: 450€ (Spain)
4gb of RAM in a PC store downtown Barcelona: 80€

40€ each 2gb stick KINGSTON memory, rockin without problems.

get g.skill ram. you can get 4 gigs for like 80 bucks... even though the prices are cheap, they are straight solid. i've never had any bad g.skill sticks.

Might not be an issue for you but....
Glossy only screen! Absolutely terrible! Such innacurate colour. Awful.

This is my experience with the 20 inch one at work, but I hear the 24 has a better quality screen under the shitty layer of over-the-top gloss!

What ever you do, Do Not get the 20" it has a horrible lcd panel. But the glossy screen is annoying to me for any kind of imaging/design work.

Unless yet get a 20"iMac and an ACD. That's a different story.

I got a 24" iMac a month or two and I love it — it really is a fantastic machine. I got the lower-end model and upgraded the CPU and got RAM from http://canadaram.com. Didn't go for the wireless keyboard and mouse becaues we like having the num pad. Might get the mouse later, though.
    Get it! :)
