I didn't actually make this masterpiece.
I was just wondering how this one page, 2 sentence "website" had a higher ranking than my blog for the search term "how to make a sandwich".
Astounding.

thats how keyword matching works. suppose two sites use different numbers of keywords to attract searches, one has "how, make, sandwich", the other one "how, make, sandwich, bolognese, ragú, rabbit "
then if you search "how to make a sandwich", the first one is a better match,sum of differences between union of keywords against site keywords and search keywords is 2 words, ("to" and "a"), while your keywords would give 5 non-matched words ("to", "a", "bolognese", "ragu", "rabit")
so the more you narrow down your own keywords, the better, this is to prevent people putting megabytes of keywords in their pages

@drgs
so... ur saying be more specific? so the keywords are being treated as numerical sets? with less being equal to more? I noticed you used concepts such as Union and difference... how do I calculate the sum of the difference in site keywords vs search keywords?

well, before it was that more keywords ment more hits, but they changed the principle from how well search words match site keywords, to the opposite, what portion of site keywords are matched by search words
for example a search "how, make, sandwich" in
"how, make, sandwich, bolognese, ragú, rabbit "
matches half of the words, so 50% match so to speak (although all three words are matched)
while "how, make, sandwich" matches 100% in "how, make, sandwich" (also all three matched). it is a better match because the site excludes info about things which are not "how, make, sandwich"........
however of course, if someone searches other things like "sandwich, ragú, rabbit" the first one returns again 50% match, while second drops to 33%
so you can broaden your keywords, gathering more hits in some way, but at the same time youre thinning it out for each area, it balances out
it is best seen on youtube, btw
