brings electronic music into your living room via TV

Cologne, March 25th, 2008 - souvenirs from the earth is a channel that showcases a totally new medium between art galleries, art publishing and TV for the first time in TV history:
Video art and electronic music on television!

The visual arts broadcaster - souvenirs from the earth is a unique TV-channel that broadcasts video art 24/7. The programme is a line-up of 10 to 60 minutes long “video-paintings”: often very slow, colourful films specially produced by different artists, exploring for the first time the physical dimension of moving images the new big flat screen TVs have to offer. The viewer can completely immerse himself in the art work. That is why this channel is ideal for design oriented interiors.

This is a unique platform for video artists, designers, fashion labels, film producers, sound designers and musicians who wish to create a programme for a chill-out evening, a visual accompaniment for a dinner party or in waiting lounges or to make it an active part of a modern décor.

The footage varies from slowly pirouetting ice-skaters in Central Park to a rather abstract swivel chair ballet performed by secretaries in an open-plan office.

The electronic “downtempo” music broadcaster - souvenirs from the earth will be broadcasting avant-garde music clips and art films set to music between 8pm and 10pm daily starting April 1st 2008. The aim is to increase the broadcasting programme’s share of music to 50% by the end of June.

Frankfurt-based electronic label Elektrolux was in charge of the music programme selection. For years, Elektrolux has been a pioneer in creating ambient TV programming. It was responsible for the soundtrack of cult TV show “Spacenight” and created the blue print for this new broadcasting format with “Flowmotion”, a show running for six years during the late night programme of “Hessischer Rundfunk”.
Pop legend Eric D. Clark acts a consultant and advises on the musical positioning of the broadcaster.

A co-produced DVD will be released in May, featuring excerpts from the souvenirs from the earth programming; this way, connoisseurs of “video art” outside the broadcasting range are also able to enjoy the “video paintings”.

souvenirs from the earth videos are available on HD Podcasts for Apple TV at the iTunes Store. Additionally an assortment of individual short clips will be made available for download.

Your label for progressive cooperation - souvenirs from the earth will realize the visual backdrop for the world premiere of Peter Gabriel’s newest album presented by the Ludwig Foundation via a special live broadcast
in June 2008 in Aachen/Germany. The broadcaster also acts as a regular partner for cultural events such as the “Kölner Passagen” and the Cologne ART.FAIR.

There’s a lot ahead of us. No one interested in design, art or media will be able to ignore souvenirs from the earth in 2008. The broadcaster also offers interactive features on its website: Four-liners or haikus can be submitted on www.sfte.tv and will be directly transmitted on one of the TV-programmes (YouPoem).
