How about Tim Berners-Lee talks about ISP's who until now haven't disclosed our personal browsing habits to anyone who is willing to pay for it. I own the my browsing habits and i pay a subscription fee to my ISP to send webpages to my computer screen. Eventually i'll opt-in for this kind invasion and Phorm can pick up the bill for my internet subscription... which as far as i can is worth a lot more than the 20 bucks a month.
Are you ready for an internet experience thats totally owned by the ad industry? I'm not!

Do you think it can be stopped? of course it can't. The Internet is an idea piggybacking on corporate and commercial hardware. Its already owned, we're all just rinsing the last days of freedom before the loopholes get closed and it goes pay-per-view.
Before the Internet there was CB radio... an entirely unregulated set of airwaves that people would network on in a giant web of communication. Then it got bought under regulation and licensed, and CB culture died. It wasn't mourned for long though because along came the internet, and soemwhere out there is a new Tim Berner's-Lee with an idea for a whole new unregulated means of communication. So relax. The Web isn't ours, we're just parasites on commercial hardware. I really have no fucking idea what I'm talking about here. The internet is really not my area of interest. Did it sound good though? Could I bluff my way through a seminar? Fuck yeah.

Unless you're fucking paranoid - and have various "services" blocked - (such as double-click), your browsing habits have been farmed for years.
Anyway. Google is the one you should be worried about;

Well as far as i can tell it doesn't set a cookie on your machine - all of the browsing data is captured (and sold) by the ISP... so no you cant just switch off the cookies anymore.
