ok, so a bunch of artists that have studios in the same building as mine. found out i shoot photos and what not and now a few are interested in having me shoot photos of there paintings / etc for there websites and what not. since most of these people are not selling a huge amount of work some more than others what would be a fair cost for doing this would you think ? per piece ?

each artist is different and each will have slightly different needs with what they will be using the photos for. A few people want me to shoot as they sell the piece. Others want me to shoot like 5 pieces in there portfolio. Others want me to shoot there entire portfolio. So I'm really trying to find an affordable per piece price that works for someone wanting 1 piece all the way up to 30.
Mainly trying to see if anyone has done this and what have they charged...

setup a day/afternoon for the shoot and do every ones work all at once. don't do it on their terms - artists are flaky and will take too much time to organize.
set-up a "copy stand". two lights on 45 degrees angles and DON'T move the lights or change the exposure. this way you can process all the images together. consistency is the key to keeping it simple and profitable.
