We're working on a new product sample kit for http://www.4by6.com and are looking for artwork submissions for their card samples -- 4x6 postcards, 6x8 postcards and business cards.
Got any photography, design or illustration that you want to put in front of thousands of other designers and creatives? Something colorful and unbranded? Send a low-res sample to
Oh yeah, get a tasty bit of credit for your own postcard and business card printing too.
PS. If this type of post isn't appropriate don't hate, just let us know and we'll delete it. Ta!

When do you need them by?
- Llyod0
how much you paying?
- "a tasty bit of credit"flashbender
- I'll see if I can spend that at Target.bulletfactory

Good points.
All submissions should be received by 3/31. We'll make selections then and contact people for hi-res files.
No cash payments. Exact 'store' credit is TBD, but it should be enough for 1000 4/4 or Satin postcards or business cards.
Also, it doesn't have to be a new piece, something from your archives will work just fine.

1000 4/4 is about $350. doesn't sounds like much....
- I just checked your site. Great work.
JonWilliams - Thanks (let me know if u want photos :)mitee_
- haha that was funny for some reason. I guess $350 is sufficient now.rson

IMHO the best reason for doing this is not the printing credit, it's having your work in front of the thousands of designers, creatives, print buyers, etc. that use the sample kit.
We could have just grabbed photos and illustrations from iStock or Getty but we want the kit to be an opportunity for the designers who provide the art to get recognition and a chance for the recipients to be inspired.
And $350-ish isn't bad for just emailing us a layout, illustration or photo that you have lying around. It's not a design competition so it doesn't have to be a new or custom piece.
- Hm. I think we've had threads and threads about this sort of propisition.brains
- And what were the threads about?JonWilliams

I don't think your considering how many samples these guys give out or realizing who their going to. I just ordered samples last week and I had 2 clients order them as well. You're basically getting someone to do a direct mail piece for you to agencies and studios.

hey jon, any idea when 4by6 are going to enter the year of 2008...and start using recycled paper and/or soy ink?
- Well said. We've been pushing for years, and they have tested with recycled stock but don't feel the results meet their standards. All paper is now FSC though.
JonWilliams - let me finish that line. meets their CHEAP ASS. obvious.akrokdesign
- sorry your client are the way they are. other wise, good luck.akrokdesign

so why do we need these in other designers studios? they aren't our clients.
- dtan0
could be potential clients.
- ephix0
designers are potential clients? if you're looking for freelance, i spose.

Seems like a resonable deal. if you have something lying around that you have already created, why not have them print it. If he was asking for new work, fair enough, have a moan, but he isn't.
- here here... what's with all the beef. if you've already done it, send a sample. free advertising bitches...Raniator

Always nice to see some lively, intelligent discussion ;-)
A quick update: We're not looking for redesigns of the whole sample kit, just artwork for the sample 4"x6" postcards, 6"x8" postcards and, if you're interested, business cards.
The deadline has been moved up so we'd like to have all submissions to by next Weds 3/19.
And thanks to all who have submitted work, we'll be getting back to you individually.
