I didn't choose the shiny route. Don't need the extra glare.

I think its because they dont want designers to use them. I think epigraph is right.
I dont need a mac pro tho - just like most designers dont
Can you get film to put over them!?!? Random but thought Id askTa

- I wonder that too...I have a shiny mbp, and have seen the film, but wonder how it looks.epigraph

the glossy screen doesn't bother me, the colours are richer, and I've this invention called 'blinds'

I have a shiny screen, and I love it. ll the people I work with who have old ones all seem to comment on how good it looks

I also have the shiny screen, although i have to shut the blind (Shine eliminator) at around 10 for half an hour. Other than that really nice intense colours

I've got the shiny screen on my MacBook. It looks fine.
Get a lot of nice comments on it, too.

£1500 to take a gamble on a shiny screen sounds alot

i have the 24" imac at home and it's incredible. all the developers and sr. designers here have them too, no complaints. when you're sitting in front of it there is little glare. sure, when you're off to the side or standing up looking down at it there is glare, but in front of it it's minimal at best. the colors are amazing and crisp. i never understood the 'colors are off thing'. everyones monitor is calibrated anyways so nothing will ever look the same from one computer to another. i love it. take it easy guys. good luck with the purchase karlo.

There's surprisingly little glare from the glossy screens. I've even sat outside in the sun and it's not been a problem (at least any more than the matte screens).

I have a Macbook Pro with a glossy screen and an iMac at work with a glossy and I love both of them.

At work I just switched to a 20" iMac and the colors on the screen seem to fade towards the end of the screen. Tried calibrating, changing angle of the screen. Nothing helped. It is best seen when the desktop-color is set to a solid color. In stead of a solid color, you see a gradient. This problem was also discussed here: http://discussions.apple.com/thr…

its terrible.. Colors change if you are not sitting directly infront of it, which is terrible if doing color correcting.
White look like blues, contrast looks all fucked up. I dont like it. pair it up with a second monitor.

have all those problems too. Asked my boss for a solution (preferably my old screen back) but really don't want to lose this speedy iMac...
