  Hi,

  So, i'm designing a dining guide in canada, I have put together a few pages for proofing before designing the whole thing.

  I have hit a snag, the publisher seems to thing hermes is un-sophisticated. Which I don't really agree with, but whatever. But she wants to remain contemporary too!

  so anyone good "sophisticated" fonts or font pairings for publications.

  And NO typography.com fonts as she wont pay for them.

  un-sophisticated is so vague. Does she want a serifed typeface maybe? I would ask her to be a little clearer.

  Oh my god. Great. Myriad. You sure she doesn't want Papyrus? That's pretty sophisticated. Use hermes thin and present it as a different font. She'll never know.

  Well, first of all I'd make sure to get every single drip of information out of the client. Words like "sophistication" are the same thing as if you were told to make a project look "funky" or "sexy".
  Other wise

  Second, if money is an issue, instead of using some free font, explore 3 times your own library of typefaces.
