looking to get something to do heavy color correcting.

i'm a http://www.newegg.com addict but I'm not sure their customer reviews are the best for what you're looking for.

This is taken from Consumer Reports
    Good choices among 17-inch displays:
Samsung 740BX $215, CR Best Buy
    Dell 1707FPV $260
Benq FP72G+S $205, CR Best Buy
    HP L1755 $250

All four had fine display quality and are worth considering. The Samsung stands out for useful features at a low price. The low-priced Benq has a narrower viewing angle but would be fine for typical use.

    Best 20- and 22-inch displays:
Dell E207WFP $260, CR Best Buy
    Apple Cinema Display LCD20 $700
    Samsung 205BW $335
    Westinghouse LCM-22w2 $380
    Gateway FPD2275W $400

All five are wide screens with fine picture quality. This 20-inch Dell costs about the same as some 19-inch LCDs; the Samsung costs more but is height-adjustable. The pricey 20-inch Apple might suit mostly Mac owners who want a matching monitor. The 22-inch Westinghouse and Gateway have dedicated video inputs for TV sources.

    Good choices among 19-inch displays:
    Samsung 940BX $265
    HP L1940 $270
    Dell 1907FP $290
    ViewSonic VX1945wm $280
    Gateway FPD1975W $230
    Acer X191WSD $230
    Benq FP92W $220

All are fine performers. The ViewSonic, Gateway, Acer, and Benq have wide screens. The ViewSonic has an iPod dock with speakers and a memory card reader.

    • this snippet fails to mention why the apple monitor is raelly pricier - namely, it doesn't use a TN panel and therefore can display all 8 bits of each color,.bigtrick1/2
display all 8 bits of each color instead of simulating 8 bits from 6.bigtrick2/2

wow thanks so much for the quick and thorough responses. I just had a look at
samsungs 2493.. looked great, for about $450 24"

dont know if it covers adobe RGB colorspace or how well. .
If I could afford a lacie, Id put the money down. I guess you get what you pay for.. Roll around in a volvo, Saab, or Honda. WE shall see.
