i own the sigma and use it on my canon 10d. it's pretty rad to say the least... then again, i'm a shit photographer... no, wait, i can't even offer myself the label of photographer... i'm just a shit. so um... yeah.

Thanks steve
yeah, I have a hard time calling myself a photographer.
I like taking pics is more of my level.Any experienced photographers wnat to share insight?

i use a sigma 18-50 on my 20d. i'm somewhat of a "photographer." generally i find high end sigma lenses to be the same quality / better than low end canon lenses. no experience with tokina.

Never used a Tokina, but Sigma's have served me well for the price (currently the only one I own is a 50mm macro).

Wow.. I feel kinda glad I asked cause I was going to get the tokina
- Meeklo0

perfect thread for a quick question.
I am about to purchase a EOS 40D kit. I found the kit with two options for lenses. Option on is the EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM for $1664.95. Option 2 is the EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM for $1329.95. It option 1 really that much better of a lens? Or should I just buy the body and get a lens separate?- did you just hijacked my thread?Meeklo
- I never buy kits. Variable aperture lenses piss me off.ismith
- sorry meeklo, i just thought it was a good forum to add to.capn_ron
- the 17-85 is a good lens, and you get it pretty cheap for what its worth retail in the kit. my advice would be to sell it straight up and get a 17-40mm Lforcetwelve
- 17-85 is a brilliant all round lens - highly recommend it. It's quality and unlike the usual throwaway 'kit' lenses.bananaman

unless someone advise on a better alternative for a fish eye lens?

I have a sigma 10:20 for a few weeks now and it hasn't really come off ever since ... I have a nikon d40x which means the auto-focus motor is in the lens. This makes it a bit bulkier and with the standard flash you get an shadow on the bottom of your pics...
